Hello Mages!
We are proud to have created Mage Noir. But if there is one thing we are even more proud of, it is the community that has grown around the game, and how it has attracted such a welcoming, kind, and incredibly creative group of players.

While we continue working on the future of Mage Noir, some members of our community are actively shaping its present by creating tools that are both practical and incredibly useful.

This blog post aims to highlight some of the most widely used tools created by the community.

A quick overview of the tools

Here is a list of the tools we would like to introduce today:

We strongly encourage you to try them out for yourself. They are easy to use and incredibly practical, and they help you enjoy everything Mage Noir has to offer even more.

The Mage Noir TTS Module by Cyrusa

Want to play Mage Noir remotely with friends? Nothing could be easier. This Tabletop Simulator module contains every single Mage Noir card, ready to play.

For those unfamiliar with it, Tabletop Simulator, often called TTS, is a game available on Steam that allows you to simulate board games digitally. It may take about fifteen minutes to get used to the interface, but once you are past that learning curve, it becomes an extremely powerful and convenient tool. The only downside is that it is the only tool mentioned in this article that is not free, since Tabletop Simulator itself costs around 20 euros. That said, it is frequently discounted on Steam, often at half price.

Originally, we created a basic TTS module ourselves. It was functional, but limited to the bare minimum, as we did not yet have the time or experience needed to push it further.

Thankfully, thanks to the initiative of Cyrusa, a Mage Noir player, a second and fully featured official Mage Noir module was created on TTS.
If there is only one tool you take away from this article, it should be this one. It allows you to play the entirety of Mage Noir online and includes a wide range of features that significantly improve the overall experience.

Le module TTS Mage Noir

First and foremost, every card in the game is available. If you have not had the chance to try certain expansions yet and would like to test them before purchasing physical copies, this is the perfect place to do so.

Beyond that, Cyrusa’s expertise made it possible to implement many quality of life improvements that make gameplay far smoother.

For example, several scripts automate Mana management, greatly simplifying this aspect of the game.

Préparer un sort sur TTS

Preparing a spell only requires having the necessary Mana and dragging the card onto the “Prepare” area.

These improvements are not limited to Mana alone and cover a wide variety of systems.

Choix de main de départ

A single mouse click lets you choose your starting hand.

Between automated starting hand setup, reminder tokens for the various states a spell can have, and a simple and effective deck import tool, this module has quickly become a must-have for Mage Noir players who face off online.

A huge thank you to Cyrusa for his dedication to this project. Playing Mage Noir online is a pleasure, and it is thanks to him.

The “Spell Dealer” by Rodskin

If you have not yet joined the Circle’s Discord server, we strongly encourage you to do so. Not only will you meet welcoming and friendly Mages, but it is also the best place to discuss spells, decks, and strategies.

One of the key reasons these lively discussions run so smoothly is undoubtedly the bot created by Rodskin, one of Mage Noir’s earliest players. This bot is aptly named the “Spell Dealer”.

Simply type “/card” followed by the name of the card you want to look up, in either French or English, and the Spell Dealer will instantly display it. This tool is absolutely indispensable during card discussions.

In addition, the “/banlist” command allows players to view banned and restricted cards used in official tournaments, which is essential for any competitive player.

The simplicity and ease of use of this tool have played a major role in strengthening the Mage Noir community by making discussions clearer and more fluid on Discord. The Spell Dealer is one of the pillars that helped shape the Mage Noir community as it exists today, and we cannot thank Rodskin enough for it.

The “mndb” Deckbuilder by Suri

There are many approaches to deckbuilding. Some players prefer using real, physical cards, as handling tangible objects can greatly help organize thoughts and ideas.

Others prefer digital tools, where adding, removing, and swapping cards can be done in just a few clicks. For those Mages, we highly recommend the “mndb” deckbuilder created by Suri.

le deckbuilder mndb

Easy to learn, featuring a clean and ergonomic interface, and equipped with effective filters to quickly find your favorite cards, this deckbuilder is an excellent tool for theorizing, building, dismantling, and rebuilding decks.

Even better, it is perfectly suited for sharing decks. First, it includes a dedicated interface that lets you sort your deck by theme and display it clearly.

But more importantly, with a single click, it allows you to export your deck as a simple text block that can be copied and pasted. This text is specially formatted to be readable and compatible with other community tools. From this export, you can directly import your deck into Cyrusa’s TTS module, or into the next tool we are about to present.

Mage Noir – Le Cercle, by Seccyeth

This website serves three main purposes. It is a deck sharing platform, a card database, and a hub that brings together many online tools. Seccyeth maintains it regularly, providing frequent updates and improvements.

A deck sharing platform

This section of the site allows you to share and discover new decks, along with useful additional information such as key cards, deck descriptions, and even an estimated competitiveness level.

This is where Suri’s deckbuilder export tool truly shines, as it allows you to publish your creations on the site quickly and easily.

Partage de deck

You can even find decks created by the current Champion, Jerem.

Players can also include detailed instructions on how to pilot their decks, and others can leave comments to discuss card choices and strategy.

The interface also displays many useful details, such as warnings for tournament banned combos, or a simple breakdown of the deck’s Mana requirements.

A card search tool

The site also includes a powerful card filtering system that is extremely helpful during deckbuilding sessions.

Between required components, precise Mana costs by element, and keywords found in effect text, the site dynamically updates search options to help you find exactly the card you are looking for.

Filtre de cartes

A hub for community tools

A final page lists all online tools related to Mage Noir, including those presented in this blog post.

It is therefore an excellent place to discover many other community creations.

Outils communautaires

A special mention goes to Espequair’s deckbuilder, which was the very first to be made available online.

Overall, Mage Noir - Le Cercle is already a very complete website and an extremely practical resource for anyone who wants to follow and explore community creations around the game. Given how regularly it is updated and improved, we are excited to see how it continues to evolve.

Special mention: Revehn’s discovery decks

While not an online tool in the same sense as the ones presented above, we still wanted to highlight Revehn’s work, as it deserves just as much attention. By mixing elements during deck construction, Revehn set out with a clear goal: to offer decks that are more interesting and interactive than the preconstructed decks included in expansions. A lot of effort went into creating a full lineup of decks, that serve as an excellent foundation for introducing players to deckbuilding.

With clear game plans, easy entry points, and lists optimized to interact with one another in engaging ways, these decks are a fantastic stepping stone for discovering just how much depth Mage Noir has to offer. Every card is carefully chosen to maximize player enjoyment, and it truly shows during play.

These decklists are perfect if you want to introduce friends to the game without spending too much time on deckbuilding. A huge thank you to Revehn for this work.

That is all for today, Mages.

We would like to sincerely thank Cyrusa, Rodskin, Suri, Seccyeth, and Revehn for their creations. They are as practical as they are well designed, and we are always incredibly proud to see that Mage Noir has inspired them enough to build all of this.

If you have ideas for additional tools to enrich the Mage Noir experience, we would be happy to support you and help spread the word. Feel free to come discuss them with us on our Discord.

Once again, thank you to all our players for your enthusiasm, your creations, and for making the Mage Noir community what it is. A special thank you as well to our Discord moderation team, who work tirelessly to keep this space welcoming and friendly.

Until the next blog post, we wish you an excellent day, Mages. Take care, and have fun.
